The jackpot keeps getting higher in the Powerball game.  The 311-million-dollar grand prize went untouched in last night’s drawing, so the jackpot will rise to an estimated 333-million for the drawing Saturday night.  The cash option will be 237-million dollars.


Pokemon Go is now the biggest mobile game in U.S. history.  It attracted almost 21 million users as of Tuesday in the United States breaking the record of 20 million Candy Crush users.  After the app came out, Nintendo’s stock jumped 25%, and the company’s worth jumped by $9 BILLION.  So of course, movie studios are hustling to strike a deal to make a new Pokemon movie. PLUS there are now Pokemon Go chauffeur services helping users of the mobile game catch em all.  Some enterprising Craiglist users have posted ads saying they will drive people around the Portland area to catch characters for about 30 dollars per person every two hours.

The nominees for this year’s Emmy Awards will be announced this morning.  A pair of FX miniseries are expected to rack up some nominations.  “Fargo” and “The People vs. O.J. Simpson” were critical favorites this year and are likely to get nominated.  HBO’s “Game of Thrones” took home a record-breaking 12 awards at last year’s show and is likely be up for more this year.  The nominees will be announced at 11:30 a.m. Eastern.

The world’s biggest toy maker wants girls to get used to the idea of women leading the nation.  Today Mattel is introducing President Barbie and Vice President Barbie “to inspire girls to become leaders.”  Mattel reports that it’s not the first time Barbie has run for president, but it is the first time for her to be on an all-female ticket.
